This week, world-leading game industry consultancy Naavik released their comprehensive State of UGC 2024 report; unpacking the major steps in 2023 from the biggest movers and shakers whilst predicting what we can expect to witness this year.
The in-depth analysis dives head-first into the details across The State of Roblox, The State of Fortnite Creative, The State of Live-Service UGC, The State of Modding & Overwolf, Developer Payouts Growth — paying close attention to geographic, platform, monetization and toolset expansions across each vertical.
Last year saw a paradigm shift for in-game creators and UGC at-large. Overall, developer payouts increased 32%, from $999.5M to $1.32B. We’re immensely proud that Overwolf has been responsible for contributing $201M to that pool so far, growing 25.6% year-on-year.
