In 2023, Roblox, Fortnite, and Overwolf combined paid over $1 billion to creators. Overwolf, which includes the CurseForge platform as the world’s largest repository for mods — alone paid out over $201 million to creators.
The money generated is not only changing the lives of hobbyist gamers to establish a full-time career out of their passion, but is also creating longevity and retention for major studios by handing the keys to passionate players who are constantly refreshing games with their own mods and extensions to keep things interesting.
