User Reviews Improvements

We’re excited to share some significant updates that improve how user reviews work on the Overwolf Appstore. These updates address many of your long-standing frustrations.

What’s New?

  • Social & Support Links: Developers can now update their social links via the Developer Console. These links will appear in the "About the Creator" section of the new app store page, helping users easily report issues directly instead of leaving negative reviews caused by unresolved bugs.
  • Improved Review Flow (Coming Next Quarter): The updated review process will include a new support prompt within the review modal, encouraging users to report bugs or issues through proper channels instead of leaving negative feedback.
  • Best Practices Guide: To further help developers, we’re releasing a guide with tips on how to:
    • Encourage meaningful user reviews
    • Redirect users to appropriate support channels for bug reporting
    • Communicating your app status clearly to reduce user frustration

Let us know how you feel about these updates, which are designed to help you manage reviews more effectively while ensuring users feel heard and supported!

TFT Updates

The recent release of TFT Set 13 came with significant updates that affected third-party apps, and we’re here to provide a summary of the fundamental changes.

Removal of Augment Data
Riot has removed augment data from the end-of-game summary and match history, aiming to improve the game’s balance by discouraging win rate-based augment selection. As a result, developers were required to remove any support for augment data. This information is no longer accessible via Riot’s or Overwolf’s APIs.

New Item Format
The item data format has been updated (from “Item_Icons/Standard/Giants_Belt\” to “:\"TFT_Item_GiantsBelt\”). As a result, several events were impacted, which our updated GEP version has addressed. We still recommend that developers test these changes for compatibility.

Player Surge
As anticipated, the release of Arcane's second season has significantly boosted TFT player activity, opening new opportunities for your apps to engage users!

Thank you to all the developers who promptly adjusted their apps to align with these changes. If you have further questions, contact us through your Developer Relations Manager or our community spaces.
