July brings summer sunshine and a fresh wave of excitement across the gaming world, with new titles and community activities. If you're gearing up for the next release or fine-tuning a feature, there’s plenty to inspire and support your journey this month.

New Summer Games

This summer, several exciting titles have hit the scene, each offering fresh opportunities for innovative app development:

PEAK
A co‑op climbing game where teams of four navigate dynamically generated maps. Released June 16th, it reached over 100K concurrent players on launch day, and is ranking 5th in the Overwolf platform for the top games in the last 30 days, reaching over 1.6M players!
With a very positive 93% Steam rating, PEAK is a compelling candidate for apps like route planners, team coordination tools, or difficulty trackers. We already have basic game events for the game, check them here.

Mecha BREAK
Released July 2nd, this free-to-play mech shooter gained rapid traction - peaking at 132K concurrent players. It also boasts cross-platform support and saw over 600K Twitch hours watched on launch!
App ideas include loadout optimizers, match stats trackers, or strategy overlays to enhance gameplay.

Dune: Awakening
Now in live access, Dune: Awakening has maintained strong traction, with an all-time peak of 189K concurrent players on Steam and over 160K in Overwolf.
Known for its immersive world and deep lore, this could support apps for resource management, map overlays, and community event tracking.

Riot Games Ads Guideline

Following Riot Games’ latest ad policy update, we recently had a productive call with Riot, which emphasized their appreciation for our creator community and Overwolf’s role as a trusted partner. Here’s a clear summary of the new ad guidelines, effective July 17th:

• Opt-in Required - Ads must appear only after users intentionally trigger the overlay
• Dimmed Background - Large overlays must visually separate from gameplay with a dim effect and have a clear exit.
• Don't Obscure Game UI - Overlays cannot cover core UI elements like health bars or maps.
• No Floating Ads - Ads must be anchored inside functional overlays.
• No In-Game CTAs - Upgrade prompts must appear outside active gameplay
• Distinct UI Design - Avoid mimicking Riot’s UI; use your own branding and style.

We are here to help you stay compliant with these rules. We actively monitor, support, and review apps to ensure the experience remains fully aligned with Riot’s policy. Riot’s trust in our moderation and intent to help developers is encouraging news!

Brand Partnerships in July

Our Brand Partnerships team has been working hard this summer - and you’re benefiting from it! Recent wins include:

🏆Quest Complete - Recent Victories and Milestones

• Overwolf Native Version 0.280.1 - Added a new flag for controlling the ability to show a black overlay when a window is visible, and more. Check the notes here.
• Overwolf Native Version 0.280 - We have performed overlay optimization, redesigned the settings page, and more. Check the notes here.
• Electron GEP Supported Environments - We’ve added a new page that lists the games supported in the development and production environments. This requested feature helps increase visibility of the available Electron events and those which are ready to go live on request. Visit the new page here.
• Ratings and Reviews Documentation - Another improvement to our documentation website, this month’s highlight is the Ratings and Reviews Guide. This tutorial can help you navigate this important topic, help deal with lower ratings, and capitalize on higher scores!
• New Games - We have added support for 69 new games! Look up the complete game list.
• Game Events - New game events for LoL, PEAK, Rematch, and more! Our roadmap lists all important GEP releases. See the various changelogs for released events here.
