Spring is in full swing, and it's a great time to sharpen your tools, update your apps, and prepare for the busy months ahead. We've rolled out some significant updates this month to give you more ways to grow, monetize, and simplify your work with Overwolf. Let’s dive right in!

Documentation Overhaul

We’re happy to announce that the Overwolf Documentation website has undergone a major overhaul to make finding the information you need faster and easier! The changes are especially visible in the new navigation sidebar, which has been reorganized to better support developers of all experience levels.

Here are two new areas we recommend checking out:

• Onboarding Journey - A step-by-step guide for getting started with Overwolf development. Explore the Onboarding Journey
• Guides Section - A new and growing section designed to help you with practical advice and best practices.
  • Within this, we want to highlight the new User Onboarding Experience Guide, which is focused on improving your app's install and first-use flow.

Stay tuned as we continue improving the documentation and adding newer guides!

New 400x60 Ads

Following the recent launch of our 728x90 banners, we’re excited to introduce another new ad format: the 400x60 ad container!

This compact unit can be placed at the top of your existing 400x600 or 400x300 ad units, allowing you to increase revenue without disrupting your app’s user experience. It's a simple addition that creates new monetization opportunities with minimal design changes.

Electron New CMP

We’ve made necessary updates to the Consent Management Platform (CMP) flow for Electron apps, expanding privacy handling for users worldwide.

Here’s what’s new:

• Region-Specific Privacy Screens:
  • Europe: Full CMP window
  • USA: US-specific privacy settings
  • Rest of World: Default settings
• Mandatory Manage Button: The “Manage” button must be visible in your app’s Privacy Settings menu for all users, regardless of region.
• New API: Use `app.overwolf.openAdPrivacySettingsWindow()` to open the correct settings window based on user location (Replacing the old function).

Please note: To use the new CMP functionality, make sure to upgrade to the latest ow-electron version.

🏆Quest Complete - Recent Victories and Milestones

• Overwolf Native Version 0.275 - Improvements to Overlay compatibility with 3rd party programs and more. Check the notes here.
• Overwolf Electron Version 34.4.1 - We have updated the underlying Electron version to 34.4.1 and more. Check the notes here.
• Electron GEP - We have updated the structure of our event objects to introduce a new feature field. This change rolled out starting 06/04/2025. For more information visit our roadmap.
• New Games - We have added support for 55 new games! Look up the complete game list.
• Game Events - New game events for Monster Hunter Wilds, Escape From Tarkov, and more! Our roadmap lists all important GEP releases. See the various changelogs for released events here.

🏹On The Hunt - Ongoing Efforts and Progress Updates

• New trending game: Schedule I - A new co-op simulation of a drug distribution manufacturer, Schedule I which released at the end of March is taking Steam by storm, ranking #5 in top sellers and hitting 150K players consistently on weekends.
  
  Our first set of game events is already ready here! Let us know if you plan on supporting this game with an existing or new app.
• House Ads - We are working to add this feature, giving developers the option to use ad containers as placeholders for promoting other apps, new features, subscriptions, and more.
• Upcoming Game Events - We are working to add new game events for Overwatch 2, LoL, and more! See upcoming events here.
• The Right Events for Apps - Found a game you want to make an app for, but there are no events? Let us know by posting a request in our Discord requests forum! (make sure you have joined our Discord community to get access).

• We want to give a shout-out to Oskar, the developer of the great Counterwatch app, who quickly became an important part of our community, supporting other developers and always willing to help Overwolf improve by participating in our initiatives.
